What's Coming Up?
Happy Mom's Day to all the Valley's moms...
the feathered kind and the human kind!
It has been a busy spring for Preserve the Valley. Big thanks to the 50+ supporters who joined us for the Valley Clean-up Day on April 24. We picked up more than a 1/2 ton of garbage in two hours. Special thanks to Keep Akron Beautiful for the safety vests, grab sticks, and bags.
Milestones: We've surpassed 17,000 signers on the Theiss petition and we hope to reach 1000 Preserve the Valley supporters in May, so if you haven't told your friends and neighbors about us, please share our website and urge them to sign up for the mailing list. It's free!
Theiss Woods Update: The City of Akron hasn't set a date for a Theiss decision yet, so we are continuing to collect endorsements in support of the Western Reserve Land Conservancy's proposal to purchase and conserve Theiss. Check out the current endorsement list here and encourage your group or organization to join in.
Master Plan Countdown: We are so excited by the choice of Farr Associates to guide the Master Planning process starting this summer. They are an award-winning, Chicago-based firm. Preview their cool website and be inspired! We'll share more details as soon as we have them from the cities of Akron and Cuyahoga Falls. (Trust us, you'll want to be part of this exciting opportunity to set the future course for the Merriman Valley/Schumacher area.)
Make Your Voice Heard: How should the Akron Metropolitan Regional Transportation agency spend billions in state and federal funds to improve public transit, bikeways, and pedestrian paths in the Akron-area? Visit this webpage to register a comment and join upcoming public meetings.
