Looking Out for the Valley in 2021

Just like this pair of river otters, we continue to look out for the Valley

and its greenspaces in 2021!

Thank you to all of our supporters who have written letters and emails, made statements at Council meetings, put signs in their yards, and shared our posts. Your work has made a big impact. Here's the latest information on our projects:

Riverwood (1870 Akron-Peninsula Rd.): Akron Council and committee members have requested additional time to study the issues raised by Preserve the Valley and local citizens. The decision date on rezoning Riverwood for development has now been moved to January 25. We applaud the city for taking the time to gather more information and review our research. Akron residents, please reach out to your council members to share your opinion on Riverwood, if you haven't already done so. You can read our research document here.

Theiss: Conservation groups have until March 31 to submit proposals for Theiss. Stay tuned as we will have more to share about Theiss in February.

Valley Conversations: Our FIRST Valley Virtual Conversation for the public will be on Thursday, January 21 at 7 pm. Learn about Riverwood and about Preserve the Valley in this free event. Details for registering will be sent out in the next newsletter.

Finally, a BIG thank you to renowned Valley photographer, Jeffrey Gibson, for sharing the delightful pair of river otters with us. You can savor his stunning views of the Valley and its wildlife at www.crookedriverimages.com. They will inspire you!
